Finger Lakes Antique Show

St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Bloomfield - 54th Annual Antique Show and Sale

The 54th annual St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Antique show takes place July 13, 2013 from 10am -4pm(early admission 9am-10am) in Bloomfield, NY on the Village Green on Routes 5 and 20.  Bloomfield is a beautiful, scenic 25 minute or so drive from Another World B&B, a Canandaigua area inn, in Naples, NY.  This show features 60 dealers selling antiques and collectibles – furniture, china and glass, lighting, rugs, memorabilia, etc.  This is one of my favorite Finger Lakes antique shows.  Great antiques at down to earth prices.

While in Bloomfield, enjoy lunch at the Holloway House.  This old fashioned, charming, New England style inn serves lunch from 11:30am-2pm.  Be sure to order a piece of the homemade black cherry pie which is now in season.  It is absolutely outstanding.

Deer with Fawn

For the last few weeks I had not seen many deer around Another World Bed and Breakfast.  The Finger Lakes, Canandaigua and Naples typically have an abundance of white tailed deer.  There is a herd of seven that usually hangs out around the inn.  Then, this past week, I saw a deer feeding on the hillside in the back yard around 7 o'clock in the morning.  She looked quite thin and was eating up a storm.  Around 11 o'clock I looked out a window in the sun room and this same doe was grazing about 12 feet away.  Then, out of the woods came a tiny fawn and it started to nurse.  This doe obviously was eating for two.  I moved to get the camera to capture this wonderful scene, but my motion scared them off and back into the woods.  This moment, however fleeting, was certainly priceless.

Red throated hummingbirds have been hovering at the feeder in the perennial garden. They are so beautiful. It's nice to see them back in Canandaigua and Naples.

Baking Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp at Another World Bed and Breakfast

It's rhubarb season in the Finger Lakes and I purchased some at Joseph's Wayside Market, a wonderful open air farm stand, in Naples, NY.  Today, I made a delicious strawberry rhubarb crisp from a recipe I found on the Food Network--link:  http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/strawberry-rhubarb-crisp-recipe/index.html  I served it with vanilla ice cream and it was absolutely yummy.

Fox Sighting in the Neighborhood

I was at my neighbor's house in the late afternoon enjoying a cup of tea with her when I thought I saw an orange cat in her back yard.  It actually turned out to be a stunning red fox.  My friend grabbed her camera and captured it's journey across her property.  When it got in the snow pile that remained by her garage it started jumping and jumping in the air as if it was putting a show on for us.  After it completed its performance it sauntered across the road and disappeared in the brush in a field.  So much amazing wild life in the Naples, NY / Canandaigua area in the Finger Lakes region.
