Fox Sighting in the Neighborhood

I was at my neighbor's house in the late afternoon enjoying a cup of tea with her when I thought I saw an orange cat in her back yard.  It actually turned out to be a stunning red fox.  My friend grabbed her camera and captured it's journey across her property.  When it got in the snow pile that remained by her garage it started jumping and jumping in the air as if it was putting a show on for us.  After it completed its performance it sauntered across the road and disappeared in the brush in a field.  So much amazing wild life in the Naples, NY / Canandaigua area in the Finger Lakes region.

Naples NY Maple Days Courtesy of Naples Valley Visitors Association

Naples Maple Days - March 16-17 and March 23-24

WOHLSCHLEGEL'S NAPLES MAPLE FARM
Visit our scenic maple farm for a pancake breakfast, sugarhouse tour and woods walk through the sugarbush on the weekends of March 16-17 and March 23-24. Feast on all-you-can-eat pancakes drizzled with our farm-made maple syrup plus 2 sausages and beverages from 8am to 1pm. (Pancake breakfasts run $3 for children ages 3-7, $5 for children 8-12 years and $7 for ages 12 and over and adults.) Then, from 10 to 4pm, enjoy our open house and woods walks (if the weather cooperates, we might be boiling the sap before your eyes!). We’ll be serving up an extra-sweet special: maple cotton candy. And don’t forget to enjoy free tastes of our "moxilicious" gourmet maple cream, homemade syrups and maple mustard.

HAZLITT'S RED CAT CELLARS
On March 16th and 17th, Hazlitt’s will be serving a Garlic Maple-Rubbed pulled pork simmered to melt-in-your-mouth tenderness in a crockpot, flavored with Hazlitt’s apple-infused Spyder Bite wine and maple syrup (all ingredients available in our gift shop). We’ll also be holding an end-of-the-season blowout on clothing and retail merchandise, along with a sweet coupon for visitors on your next visit. Each guest will receive a coupon tethered to a maple-sugar treat that entitles you to one of the three options: a free wine tasting, 10% off your next purchase, or (in one lucky winner’s case) a Red Cat Tote filled to the top with goodies.

BREW & BRATS (BEHIND ARBOR HILL)
Join us for the Irish Bash at Brew & Brats (located behind Arbor Hill) on March 16th and 17th! We’ll be featuring a Gaelic gastronomic gala starring Bangers & Mash from Hartmann’s Sausage (what’s “bangers and mash,” you ask? A delicious feast from the Old Country of sausage and mashed potatoes served with onions, cabbage and parsley). We’ll be pairing this with Red Rhino Beer from Custom Brewcrafters, Winemasters Green Sauerkraut, and rousing tunes by the Textured Winos. The price? A scant $14.95. Plus, help us celebrate “throwing the switch” to our new GREEN solar-powered system on Saturday 16th at noon!

CARRIAGE HOUSE QUILTS
Come on down to our picturesque quilt shop on Saturday, March 16th. We’ll be celebrating Worldwide Quilt Day with a mystery class from 9-4 ($10), sales to honor the occasion, and a day full of food, fun and surprises.

JULES' KITCHEN, SOUTHWESTERN DINER
Jules’ Kitchen will present an All-You-Eat Brunch on Sundays, March 17th and 24th from 10 AM ‘til 2PM. We’re delighted to pair with Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm and offer a Vermont Country Inn baked French Toast Casserole boasting Wohlschlegel’s “homegrown” maple syrup. Or, stop by any afternoon for some of the best coffee (and wifi) in Naples and a slice of Sherri’s world-famous maple cheesecake.

ARTIZANNS
Warm up after your woods walk with free Keuka Lake Coffee Roaster gourmet coffee and crispy bagel chips spread with Maple Cream from Clute’s famous third-generation maple farm on March 16th and 17th. Artisan door prizes awarded throughout the day.

THE NAPLES HOTEL
Stop into the Naples Hotel to sample the magnificent and creamy Maple Bacontini, an epic concoction made with local maple syrup, Cabin Fever maple whiskey, coffee and a crisp strip of bacon. Unstinting admirers have said, “the guy version of a Mimosa,” “a brunch in a martini glass,” and “oddly fabulous.”
